Spotsylvania Sheriff’s deputies responded to a structure fire in the 3300 block of Danbury Circle in the early hours of Friday, March 7, the sheriff’s office said.
As Sergeant Christopher Staats and Deputy Josiah Titus worked to secure the area, they were alerted to a disturbance involving a woman allegedly assaulting firefighters on the scene.
Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the woman became increasingly combative, making threats and even attempting to bite one of the deputies, investigators said.
After further investigation, Heaven Conner, 28, of Spotsylvania, was arrested and charged with two counts each of assault on law enforcement and assault on a firefighter.
Officials praised the professionalism of first responders in "the face of unpredictable challenges."
